Berkshire Engine 765 - Nickel Plate Road
This beautiful locomotive was built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1944 in Lima, Ohio. It weighs 440,000 pounds, can produce 4,500 horsepower for a top speed of 80mph, and has 8 main drive wheels that are 69 inches tall. Engine 765 carried passengers and freight from Chicago, Illinois to Buffalo, New York, passing through Fort Wayne, Indiana until 1958 when it was retired. t is owned by the Fort Wayne Historical Railroad Society and can be seen at the FWRHS shop and museum at 15808 Edgerton Road in New Haven, Indiana.
